Regeneration in emerging model organisms

A thematic series in Cell Regeneration.
Regeneration capability varies among diverse organisms. Investigation of the common and unique mechanisms employed in the regeneration of multiple species will promote better understanding of the loss of regeneration ability in higher vertebrates, and eventually provides the possible therapeutic strategies to improve tissue/organ regeneration in humans.
To highlight recent progress that, at their core, has unitized diverse emerging model organisms in innovative ways to further our understanding of regenerative processes. Cell Regeneration is currently inviting submissions to our upcoming special issue on “Regeneration in emerging model organisms”. We encourage the submission of articles that report new findings or the development or application of novel techniques in emerging regenerative model organisms, also welcome proposals for Review articles, including (but not limited to) the following areas:
- Development of emerging model organisms for the research of regenerative biology
- Mechanisms maintaining stem cell quiescence and triggering stem cells activation in regeneration, dedifferentiation and trans-differentiation in tissue/organ regeneration,
- Cell origin of tissue/organ repair and regeneration,
- Patterning of (tissue/organ) regeneration
- Cross species comparison of tissue/organ regeneration
- Development of critical techniques and resources for regeneration research
The Editor-in-Chief of Cell Regeneration will review all submissions prior to peer review and may reject any of them that do not fit the scope of the journal or do not meet the journal's standards for peer review. All articles of Thematic Series will undergo full, independent peer review, in line with the journal's ethical and editorial policies, outlined in its submission guidelines. There is no guarantee of acceptance, even for commissioned or invited papers. The journal’s Editor-in-Chief has a final authority on editorial content.
