Drugs that improve aging cells. Resveratrol and NAD+ are known to improve mitochondrial dysfunction associated with aging, whereas vitamin C is an anti-oxidant for scavenging ROS as well as its additional role in epigenetic control. SB203580 is a p38 inhibitor that prevents premature senescence. Other compounds that have been shown to improve healthy aging may also benefit progeroid cells. Senolytics are drugs that selectively remove senescent cells, whereas rapamycin and metformin increase lifespan by targeting the mTOR pathway.
